This summer we went to Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada for a two-week camping trip with my cousin, and this is the cheesy family movie I made to remind us 30 years from now what it was like. (I’m hoping Youtube is still around then).

We went to Tofino, Hornby Island, Gold River and Tahsis. This is video one in the series, check out the rest of the videos as I publish them (I’ll put them in a playlist somewhere on this channel).

As per usual, the most exciting bits for me – aside from the amazing scenery – was the food. The freshest seafood you could eat, the occasional fish taco, lots of coffee, and trying to cook on a Coleman stove with one singular frying pan and a plastic bowl that doubles as your washing basin.

We stayed at Mackenzie Beach Resort, which had a lovely, enclosed bay and great camping facilities.

Tofino was also the only spot on the journey where a bonfire ban was not in place, but for a lack of time and organisation we never got a chance to cook on an open fire.

Some of the spots featured in this vid (and others that are not but seriously worth a mention!):

-Remote Passages Marine Excursions (Hot Springs Boat Tour)
-Tough City Sushi (sooooo good)
-Rhino Coffee House (great donuts, really great)
-Shelter Restaurant (where we had the calamari and tuna stack)
-Tofino Brewing Co.
-Tofitian Cafe (amazing coffee)
-Wildside Grill (those fish tacos were deadly)
-Chocolate Tofino (delicious gelato with astronomical proportions – go for the salted caramel)
-Tofino Bike for rentals
-Pacific Rim National Park Reserve – Long Beach
-Rainforest trail
-Ucluelet lighthouse loop (not in Tofino but very nearby)
