Tofino Storm Watching
January 18, 2018
Some of the largest swell on the planet (at that moment) was raging offshore of Vancouver Island, and massive waves were washing ashore in Tofino, BC. With 9.5 m (30′) waves hitting the coast, and 14 m (45′) waves offshore, this was a massive storm.
Footage taken from safe view spots on shore (generally with camcorder zoom, hence the shake).
Note that the waves which finally reach the shore, have already initially broken a mile offshore! The waves in the video is almost the ‘whitewash’ from the big waves!
